Dr. Roland F DeRenzo

rolandSmallDr. Roland F. DeRenzo has served as the Superintendent of Schools of Colorado Springs Christian Schools, Inc. since July 2000. Since that time, the school system has excelled in many different aspects of education. CSCS is one of the largest Christian schools in Colorado, serving almost 1,000 students from Kindergarten through twelfth grade on three campuses. An independent, non-denominational school, CSCS is accredited by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI).

Dr. DeRenzo is also the President of Handprints Early Education Centers, Inc. Handprints has expanded from its original center located on the CSCS elementary campus by adding a second center which opened in late 2008 in Highlands Ranch, which is in the southern Denver area.

Also in 2008, Dr. DeRenzo, along with the CSCS Board of Directors, and a small group of prominent community business leaders, created a new organization called the Lion's Foundation. This foundation is part of an overall strategy to change the traditional funding model for Christian education from being solely tuition-based to being one of a three-source model that would help make Christian education more affordable. Dr. DeRenzo is serving as the President of this new foundation.

Prior to moving to Colorado, Dr. DeRenzo was involved in Christian education and ministry for 22 years in Michigan. He has earned a B.S. in Education from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana where he lettered in both baseball and soccer. He received a Master degree in Guidance and Counseling from Eastern Michigan University in 1981and a Master in Theology degree from International Seminary. In 1990, he completed the Doctorate program in Educational Leadership through Nova University. Roland met his wife, Sally, while both were attending Grace College. They have been married 36 years and have a grown son and daughter.

While in Michigan, Dr. DeRenzo also served as an adjunct professor at Michigan Theological Seminary. He is now an affiliate instructor at Colorado Christian University in Colorado Springs teaching leadership courses. For the past four summers, he has been privileged to serve as Chaplain for the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, the triple A team for the Colorado Rockies. Dr. DeRenzo enjoys speaking throughout the Rocky Mountain region on leadership development, team building, and education issues.
