We all like to eat but are we eating healthy? Starting the day with a good breakfast of a protein, a carbohydrate, a fruit and milk will help give your body a solid foundation to get your metabolism working. The fruit will give fiber and sugar to get the brain in gear.
Scramble an egg with a bit of ham, onion and /or peppers then roll in a flour tortilla, presto you have a breakfast burrito that takes about 5 minutes to put together. Add a few slices of fruit and a cup of milk or coffee to complete a great breakfast.
A sack lunch can be put together with bread, meat and cheese or peanut butter and jelly; a few carrot or celery sticks and maybe grapes plus a box of juice or milk. Send crackers or cookies to give a boost for a snack between meals, maybe a few nuts as well.
The day goes fast and we are tired at the end of the work day but end it with a good meal. Cooking together is a great teaching tool and a bonding element. Let us as parents be responsible to make the evening meal a family affair to talk together, to connect on the events of the day for each member of the family and to pray together. Having this time together will make a more firm and healthy family.
